A police chase that began this afternoon in Rochester ended when the suspects crashed their vehicle at Buffalo and Howard roads in Gates.
According to Rochester police, two suspects stole an SUV from an address on Garland Avenue in a carjacking. Police spotted the stolen vehicle about noon and gave chase, with the suspects travelling westbound on Buffalo Road when they crashed into another car.
That area is closed off for the investigation and drivers are being asked to avoid it.
At about the same time, a Rochester Police cruiser went up in flames near Avenue E and St. Paul Street. We're working to learn if the two incidents are related.
