So-called Aid in Dying legislation has passed before in the Assembly but has stalled in the State Senate, and it's opposed by the Catholic Church. Cuomo told WAMC radio in an interview: "I say pass the bill."

Cuomo said it's a controversial issue but the older we get, and the better medicine gets, some people suffer for too long. The governor said it's a situation that has to be addressed and pointed out that New Jersey has already adopted similar legislation.
