Starting soon, you will have to be 21 to legally buy cigarettes in New York.
The state senate passed a bill yesterday that was approved in the Assembly last month. It raises the age to buy cigarettes and e-cigarettes from 18 to 21.
It will take effect four months after the governor signs the bill into law.
The smoking age is already 21 in New York City.
