RIT Responds to Offensive Photos Resurfaced from 1970s Yearbook

RIT President David Munson is condemning offensive photos in the college's past yearbooks.

A photo from the late 1970s shows nine people wearing white robes, one person in black face and one person holding a noose. Munson says the photo should have been considered unacceptable then, and the photo, and others considered offensive, have been removed from online versions of the yearbooks.

Munson says RIT learned that the photo may be included in an upcoming national media story about racist photos in college yearbooks, incited by a racist photo discovered recently on the governor of Virginia's medical school yearbook page. . RIT will hold a campus dialogue about racial issues Friday, February 22 at noon.
