Democrats in Monroe County's 21st Legislative District have chosen Victor Sanchez -- not former TV reporter Rachel Barnhart -- as their preferred candidate for the seat this fall.
WHAM1180's Bob Lonsberry reports the decision came after an unusual change in the rules that allowed all-day voting ahead of last night's meeting to break last week's tie vote.
The district includes the Beechwood and North Winton neighborhoods.
Barnhart could still try to force a primary in June.
She has lost three previous runs for political office. Sanchez is an activist who has worked on the campaigns of two of her opponents.
