They're expecting white out conditions and extremely dangerous travel tonight west of the Rochester area. 13 WHAM Chief Meteorologist Glenn Johnson says it will get heavier the further west you go from Batavia.
Governor Cuomo says five thousand state personnel are being deployed across the state, in preparation of the incoming storm and polar vortex. Cuomo says a tractor trailer ban will be in effect on the Thruway starting tonight at 8 -- from Exit 46 to the Pennsylvania border.
But for the Rochester area the main issue will be bone-chilling cold, with extreme low wind chills for the next 48 hours.
East Rochester Union Free School District will be closed on Wednesday, Jan. 30. A decision regarding Thursday has not been determined at this time. Rochester City Schools will be closed tomorrow. Both districts rely heavily on children walking to school.
