An 87-year-old Irondequoit woman was killed in a hit and run accident on Saturday. Police believe the woman was crossing Irondequoit Road to get her mail when she was hit. The driver took off. It was an Irondequoit police officer who found the woman laying near Bay View Road. Joan Dierna was pronounced dead at the scene. Police are asking for the public's help in finding the driver. Some neighbors say the curve of the road it happened on is known to be dangerous. The speed limit is 25 miles per hour.If you have any information about this hit and run, you're urged to call 911.
