REPORT: Congressman Chris Collins to Remain on Election Ballot in November

Congressman Chris Collins reportedly will remain on the election ballot in November, even though some Republican Party leaders wanted to replace him.

"The Buffalo News," citing four unnamed sources, reports Collins' lawyers have advised him to stay on the ballot because Democrats are likely to initiate a long court fight if he is replaced.

Collins suspended his re-election campaign in the 27th Congressional District after his arrest last month on federal insider trading charges. Republican leaders have until later this week to name a replacement but removing Collins from the ballot would require running him instead for another office, and Democrats are expected to challenge such a move in court.
