A Newark man was arrested after he lied about his baby being raped by a friend. The Wayne County Sheriff's deputies said a Jeremy Austin, 27, called to report his three-week-old daughter had been raped by a male friend who visited his home in Lyons. Austin allegedly recanted his statement. Investigators said he made up the allegations because "he was mad" at his friend. Investigators said Austin eventually admitted to investigators that he accidentally burned his daughter on her arm with a marijuana pipe. Austin is charged with third-degree falsely reporting an incident, making a punishable false written statement, third-degree assault, and endangering the welfare of a child. He is being held in the Wayne County Jail. A stay away order of protection was issued for the child.
