Father Laurence Tracy Dies at the Age of 78

Parishioners in Rochester -- and many others -- are mourning Father Laurence Tracy.

He had Lou Gehrig's disease, and died this morning at age 78.

Before he retired in 2006, Father Tracy was a minister in the North Clinton Avenue area -- including Our Lady of Perpetual Help. He was beloved in the city's Hispanic community and helped launch the Ibero-American Action League.

A wellness center in the neighborhood for people with addictions was named after him.

We're hearing from community leaders in Rochester about the passing of Father Laurence Tracy.

State Senator Joe Robach calls Father Tracy "a trusted friend and mentor to so many."

Mayor Lovely Warren says he gave a voice to those who felt their voices were not heard.

County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo says in a tweet: "May his light shine bright in Rochester for generations to come."
