UPDATED: State Police say 29-year-old Trooper Nicholas Clark was killed this morning in the line of duty.
Authorities say Trooper Clark was responding to a call around 3:30 a.m., for reports of a suicidal man who had barricaded himself inside his residence on Welch Road in the Town of Erwin.
Authorities say the 911 call came in from the estranged wife of 43-year-old Steven Kiley -- who reported that Kiley might be armed.
State Police say Kiley shot and killed Clark and was later found dead inside the home from an apparent gunshot wound.
State Police say Kiley worked as a school principal.
Governor Cuomo is directing that flags on all state government buildings be flown at half-staff in honor of Trooper Clark.

We are waiting for official confirmation from the New York State Police about exactly what happened this morning near Corning.
Sources tell WHAM1180's Bob Lonsberry a trooper was shot and killed in an exchange of gunfire with a suicidal person -- apparently near the Spencer Crest Nature Center and the Corning Community College campus.
The college is operating normally this morning.
