A homicide investigation is underway in Genesee County.
Shortly before noon on Monday, Sheriff's Deputies were called to a room at the Sunset Motel on West Main Street Road in the town of Batavia for the report of an unresponsive woman.
Authorities say the woman was pronounced dead at the scene and taken to the Monroe County Medical Examiner's office.
The autopsy was finished this afternoon and a preliminary report indicated the woman had been stabbed in the neck, and the manner of death was ruled a homicide.
Authorities say they know the woman's identity but are working to notify her next of kin before releasing her name.
