Lake Ontario St. Lawrence River Board says Feb Outflow Was Highest Recorded

The international panel that regulates outflows from Lake Ontario say they were the highest in recorded history during February.

The Lake  Ontario - St. Lawrence River Board says that means Lake Ontario levels have now fallen below those of a year ago.

The board says it is keeping outflow as high as it can without causing flooding near Montreal. Currently the water level of Lake Ontario is just beneath 246 feet...a little less than a foot above average, but more than an inch below this time last year.

The forecast is for water levels to remain above average moving into the spring, so water releases will continue as high as possible without causing damage downstream.
