Two more adults in Monroe County have died from the flu in the last week. In the report released Monday from the Monroe County Health Department, the number of cases of influenza have begun to decline compared to previous weeks. A total of 13 people in Monroe County have died as a result of influenza since the Department of Health started recording flu cases this winter.
The Monroe County Health Department said it has seen 5,357 confirmed cases of the flu through March 3. Of those cases, 3,850 are flu A , 1,505 are flu B and 959 people have been hospitalized. All thirteen deaths have been ages 50 or older. Under HIPPA, the number of people diagnosed with the flu who also flu shots cannot be disclosed.
