This afternoon the ACC released its full schedule of conference basketball games, and all eyes were on the two meetings between new rivals Syracuse and Duke.
The Orange hit the ground running in their first season in the ACC, and their swift acceptance into the league's conscience was due in large part to the pair of instant classics they played against the Blue Devils.
This upcoming season the Cuse and the Devils will again play twice, with the first meeting set for Valentine's Day here in Syracuse. Two weeks later, on February 28, SU will make the return trip to Cameron Indoor.
North Carolina is the ACC's other blue blood stalwart, and the Orange will once again only face the Tar Heels a single time. Last year the Heels came to Central New York, so on January 26 this season's lone showdown will take place in Chapel Hill.
Overall this season's conference slate for the Orange sets up similarly to last year's, in that a seemingly soft start precedes a challenging stretch in the middle which then gives way to a brutal finish.
Even a young, developing Cuse squad could reasonably begin ACC play 7-0; but then something like a 3-8 or 4-7 finish could just as easily follow.
