There was a time when the NIT was a very big deal in college sports.

It has diminished over the years as the NCAA Tournament is growing in importance.

Now people refer to it as either the Nobody's Interested Tournament or the Not Important Tournament.

Exhibit A: 4,288 was the attendance at the Dome last night.

Granted, the students are on spring break and the weather was awful, but that's pretty sad.
