Pittsford Mendon's Gavin Hall is taking part in his first PGA Tour major championship with today's start of the U.S. Open Chammpionship.
Gavin qualified for the Open by winning the sectional qualifier. In fact, Hall birdied the last four holes of the qualifier to get into the field .
The 18-year old is set to attend Texas in the fall. The lefty has the all the talent to make it big some day on the tour. A smart, humble kid with a wonderful family. Besides rooting for Tiger to win, I am cheering for Hall to make the cut and be part of the weekend field. Something tells success on the tourn is the future for Hall.
And finally, whats better than overtime playoff hockey. Last night Chicago and Boston played three overtimes, which equates to 1 hour, 52 minutes, 14 seconds of hockey, the fifth-longest game in the history of the Stanley Cup finals. The game featured seven goals and 117 shots.
Since the NHL introduced the best-of-seven format back in 1939, the team that won game one of the finals has gone on to the series over 76% of the time. Boston, who rallied for three goals down in game seven against Toronto, blew a two goal lead with 13 minutes left in regulation.
Glad to see its raining again. Maybe the most despressing start to summer I can ever remember.
