Rochester N.Y.- More than 16,000 Rochester Gas and Electric Customers are out of service because of the swift and violent thunderstorm that just blew across the area.
More than 10,000 of those are in Monroe County, which has been worst hit this afternoon.
We've gotten multiple reports of trees down and taking down power lines and utility poles area-wide. In a couple of cases, poles were hit by cars after the drivers suddenly lost visibility in heavy rain.
A major tree limb fell on a car on West Henrietta Road in Henrietta. The Monroe County Sheriff's Office says the driver saw the limb start to break and hit her gas pedal -- the limb fell on the back of her car instead of the front, and she escaped without being hurt.
