Rochester, N.Y. - A former Amerk, and Buffalo Sabres Captain is being questioned in connection with a probe into an alleged illegal gambling business in Rochester.
Last month, a grand jury indicted three men connected to the Marina Restaurant & Bar. They were charged with conducting an illegal gambling ring and money-laundering scheme.
Thomas Vanek has not been charged with a crime and voluntarily appeared in court Monday.
The NHL star later released a statement which read: "Representatives from the US federal government have asked for my cooperation in an investigation. I'm not the subject of any investigation or prosecution. I will fully cooperate with US federal authorities in their investigation or in any proceedings arising out of it."
