Herkimer N.Y.- A former Rochester Police Officer who shot and killed his son in a hotel room in Old Forge in 2012 has been sentenced.
Michael Leach will spend 6 months behind bars and five years on probation.
He pleaded guilty in June to criminally negligent homicide. Leach claimed that he suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder following a shooting in the 1970s, causing him nightmares of someone entering his home.
Leach told investigators he shot his son, Matthew, because he thought he was an intruder.
