Albany N.Y.- Governor Cuomo says he has ordered an investigation of today's widespread internet outage affecting Time Warner Cable customers in New York state and around the country.
Cuomo says the state Department of Public Service will investigate the outage as part of its review of Comcast's proposed merger with Time Warner. And he says the Department will examine whether Time Warner's phone service was affected in any way.
Cuomo says more than 11 million customers were affected by the Internet outage. And he says the outage is -- in his words -- "a stark reminder that our economy is increasingly dependent on a reliable broadband network.
