Brockport N.Y.- A lieutenant with the Brockport Fire Department is under arrest, accused of stealing public money, mail and fraud.

Authorities say in February 2013, a postal carrier was robbed at gunpoint while delivering mail to an apartment building in Brooklyn. A person who lived there has been expecting two Social Security checks .

Days later prosecutors say those checks, and later others from several other states,  were deposited into a bank account owned by Steven Ray.

They say all told, nearly $400,000 was deposited into Ray’s accounts. If convicted, the charges carry a penalty of 20 years in prison.
