Conesus, N.Y. - The Livingston County Health Department says new blue green algae blooms are being found in Conesus Lake, mainly at the northern end.

Contact with it can cause health effects including itching, rash and dermatitis. The health department is warning not to come in contact with visibly green-colored water, and not to let pets touch it or drink it.  Best bet if you do touch it is to wash right away with soap and clean water to get the algae off your skin.

Swimming and water skiing are safe in areas where you can't see visible algae and the public water system is safe, but stay away from the algae.
