State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman has gone after Viking International furniture in Victor -- saying the company advertised a false "going out of business" sale.
Schneiderman announced an agreement with the Victor-based company that will see Viking International will pay a $30,000 civil penalty to the state and drop what the AG calls "misleading advertising."
The company got a 30-day permit from the Town of Victor for a "going out of business sale." But the company restocked with new merchandise, which is against state law if a company is supposed to be liquidating. The company also failed to include statements legally required in ads for a going out of business sale.
