Federal prosecutors say a series of raids on homes in Greece and a Charlotte tavern today were related to an illegal gambling operation.
The U.S. Attorney's Office says a federal grand jury returned a 23-count indictment against three men: Paul Borelli of Rochester, Joseph Ruff of Greece and Mark Ruff of Connecticut. All three are charged with running an illegal gambling business and two of the men are also charged with money laundering.
Police and FBI agents raided Borelli's home in Rochester and Joseph Ruff's home on Edgemere Drive in Greece. They also raided the Marina bar and Restaurant in Charlotte.
Authorities say $80,000 worth of gambling proceeds were recovered.
The three men allegedly took sports bets over a network of web sites and used multiple bank accounts to conceal and launder the proceeds.
