Rochester Man indicted For Shooting A Pregnant Teen

Rochester, N.Y. - A Rochester man arrested for shooting a pregnant woman on Danforth Street last month has been charged.

A Monroe County Grand Jury indicted Samuel J. Smith, 23, on charges of second-degree attempted murder, first-degree assault, and first-degree criminal use of a firearm.

On May 20, Smith allegedly pulled out a handgun and fired at a 17-year-old pregnant woman - striking her in the upper abdomen.

Both the woman and her unborn child survived the attack after three weeks of hospital treatment.  

Samuel Smith remains held in Monroe County Jail on $100,000 bail of $250,000 bond. He will be arraigned on the charges June 19th.
