There could be a plea deal for the Brighton teen whose car crashed into the back of a school bus last fall. 16 year old John Zakhary faces assault and other charges in that accident on Warren Avenue which caused injuries to him and his three classmates. One of the passengers will have lifelong disabilities because of the accident.

Prosecutor Ray Benitez has been talking with the victims' families and others involved in the case, and he says he's not looking for jail time, but does want to make sure Zakhary gets the message:

"We want to make sure that there's accountability and that the level of accountability is sufficient, not only to ensure public safety, but also to ensure there's a meaningful level of accountability for the defendant."

Benitez says depending on how the proceedings go, it's possible a plea deal would include probation and community service.

The case is back in court in early June.
