The Buffalo BIlls say Jim Kelly will begin chemotherapy and radiation treatments this week at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City.
The retired quarterback's wife announced on Facebook this afternoon that Kelly's cancer has spread to areas that can't be treated effectively by surgery. But the head of Kelly's medical team says the cancer in his sinus and adjacent tissue is very treatable by radiation and chemo.
A statement by Dr. Peter Constantino of the New York Head and Neck Institute says the condition is still potentially curable. He says the immediate focus is on controlling Kelly's pain and beginning the process of eradicating the cancer.
