Current and former Excellus Blue Cross-Blue Shield customers could lose money entitled to them if it's not claimed soon.
The insurer says they have a backlog of some $1.45 million in checks for claim payments and premium refunds the past 3 years that they've mailed to members - only those checks have never been cashed. If those payments aren't claimed by August 31, the money must be turned over to the state comptroller's office.
To find out if you have money owed to you, visit the Excellus website to search for a payment along with information on how to claim it. Current Excellus members who want to check can also call the phone number listed on their insurance ID card.
