A Canandaigua police officer and his wife have been charged with growing marijuana in their home.
The Ontario County Sheriff's Office says Officer Wayne Fenton was originally charged with assault after a physical confrontation with a woman at his home on North Road.
The victim called 911 to report the abuse. Fenton turned himself in the next day and was booked on assault and obstruction of breathing charges. But Ontario County DA Mike Tantillo says deputies investigating the domestic abuse incident found that Fenton and his wife were growing marijuana. Both now face charges of unlawfully growing marijuana and fifth-degree criminal possession.
