Monroe County Executive Maggie Brooks has issued a State of Emergency today, Wednesday, March 12th effective at noon. In addition, all County facilities will be closed at 11 a.m., the County’s Emergency Operations Center will be partially activated at noon, and a Travel Restriction will be put in place effective 1 p.m. All residents are advised to take the proper steps needed to prepare for winter weather-related challenges.

“Rochesterians are winter-tough by nature, however we are now strongly recommending residents avoid unnecessary travel beginning at 1 p.m. so local roads are clear for first responders, snow plows, and emergency personnel,” said Brooks."With snowfall expected to be anywhere from 18 to 24 inches, all residents should also take precautions to prepare themselves and their families for what these blizzard-like conditions could bring.”
