An 11-year-old boy is accused of setting last week's fire that destroyed a block of downtown Ovid in Seneca County.

The Seneca County Sheriff's Office has charged him with 4th degree arson as a juvenile delinquent. His case will be handled in Family Court. They're not releasing his name.

Sheriff Jack Stenberg says the 11-year-old was playing with a lighter and set a dumpster on fire behind a Chinese restaurant. He panicked when he couldn't put the fire out and ran away. The fire grew until it detonated the propane tanks at the rear of the building, burning down a total of four buildings.
